I'm not American and my country has chip and pin for credit cards so wait staff are forced to bring you a machine to pay; the last time I visited the USA, it was so bizarre to give my credit card over to pay and let it go out of sight. Like, I wouldn't give over my wallet and tell them to just take out some bills to pay but giving your card is normal? Wild. Also, when was visiting, I used a Wise card for everything and 6 months later it got fraudulently used to buy something online in Pennsylvania when I hadn't use it once since that trip. So yeah, open a tab? Give my card to some rando bar tender? Lol no. All this looks like to me is gen-z catching up to the rest of the world.
