A retrospective on the SWARM challenge originally posted in this thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47270807 . It's very long, and goes into topics from design challenge and what being in the moment of a challenge is, to low level register packing and the woes of working with LLMs.
It was easy to get 100 points, difficult to get 300, and getting 600 was beyond me. Well worth reading, if only for the explanation of how on Earth one can get 70% of the food across twelve different maps...with eight registers total to work with.
