Just powerful coil and integrated battery charged by conventional 110v outlet. The description of this cooking stove should be placed at "Over engineering" Wikipedia page.
My biggest induction cooktop issue isn't heating speed, it's heating coverage. My 14" cast iron doesn't head edge to edge on my cheapo $60 induction unit, and that's really frustrating. Sometimes I turn on the gas stove to get the job done!
For all the marvels Impulse offers, it's still only a 9" 'burner'. This would be the top thing I'd like to see fixed.
I just got a nuwave eletric wok, and am really hoping that it can do much better on my stir fry.
> These models use the type of battery found in some electric cars ...
> On the Impulse Cooktop, that battery can also produce a whopping boost of heat by channeling 10,000 watts to a single element ...
Ignoring both the fire safety issues and how long it'd be 'till that kinda power destroyed your cookware...I don't think you'd want one of these installed in a kitchen that either kids or frailer seniors might frequent.

Less space than a nomad, too.
Perhaps there will come a day that I give up my gas range, after all.
