Nobody will pay (well, i guess some will still pay) I've already spent the past several months systematically replacing every piece of software I can with my own, better, custom versions. Desktop apps, AI-tools, Android apps, I even replaced all of my chrome extensions with one extension that does all the things I used to use all of the old extensions for, and it does all the things better and none of the things I never needed in the first place. I'd say I've replaced about 70% of applications that I use regularly, the exceptions being a few open source applications that are already perfect (and free) like Reaper (DAW), Krita (Image editor), Brave (Browser, but the extensions are mine). If you ask me, it's fantastic and eventually i will run all of my own custom software, maybe even my own distro.
I’m curious like, AI has obviously supercharged this, but I think this has been true for a long time. I think like loosely speaking “apps” were except for a short period at the beginning always worthless. It was something akin to consulting that people paid for. The entrepeneur who built an app around the specific frustrations of some individual hair salons and then scaled that up. not a pretty UI.

Great post. I attend a significant amount of SAAS supplier 'demos' where there isn't really a demo, they just want to harvest requirements.
Anyone can code nowadays, the value is in the specification!
